Our Company Founder
Jon Cocker is PHASE-GEO’s founder and director. He holds a M.SC. in Geophysics from Curtin University, where he also lectured in Seismic Acquisition and Seismic Data Processing.
Jon’s most recent roles include:
- Chief Geophysicist (DownUnder GeoSolutions, Western Australia).
- Team Leader Acquisition and Data Analysis R&D (Chevron Energy Technology Company, TX).
- Team Leader Seismic Processing R&D (Chevron Energy Technology Company, CA).
His role as Team Leader for Seismic Acquisition R&D provided exposure to (and evaluation of) many developing and new-to-market technologies, such as Compressive Sensing for 3D and 4D, Fiber Optic Sensing, Multi-component streamers and Marine Vibroseis.
Jon started his career acquiring and processing high-resolution seismic data for coal mining: planting geophones and acquiring surface seismic and VSP’s one week, then processing, analysing and interpreting the same data the next. This provided a unique opportunity to fully appreciate the interconnection between seismic acquisition, data processing and pre-stack data quality and sparked his continued interest. He subsequently managed his career to provide a mix of Field Work, Survey Design, 4D Feasibility, Data Processing and Quantitative Interpretation for land, marine and downhole.
Jon founded PHASE GEO to continue his focus on designing surveys to provide high-quality seismic data to clients.
