Land
PHASE GEO focuses on designing land surveys that overcome the main factors affecting the quality of land data: statics, statics, statics and noise. Too often land surveys are based on simply spreading out the channels available to maximize azimuthal and offset sampling. This occurs to the detriment of other factors, such as near-offset coverage, group interval or source effort.
Survey designs must be tailored to address near-surface heterogeneity, velocity inversions, topography, linear and back-scattered noise. It is also vital that the design and supplemental data (e.g. upholes, VSP) enables the derivation of a robust and accurate statics solution. Finally, the source and receiver effort must provide the required bandwidth and sampling for the latest processing algorithms. All designs will comply with environmental constraints and surface access issues (e.g. obstacles, exclusion zones, permits), and conform with contractor capability (e.g. channel count).
Land seismic survey design services include:
- Legacy data review
- Legacy statics solution review
- Survey modelling (OMNI or MESA)
- Ray-tracing
- Data processing tests
- AVO modelling
- Finite Difference Synthetics
- Comparisons of synthetics to real data
- Supplemental information recommendations
- Pre-survey parameter tests and analysis
- Field trial design and analysis
